Nested in the Southwest corner of Rochester is a town called Chili.  It’s there that Carole Thoms has raised her Skyloft Morgans for over 40 years.

The earliest Daugherty (Carole’s maiden name) horse was a paint, and it was later when she made her first serious equine purchase (at about 18 years of age) that she decided upon the Morgan breed.  She’d just broken up with her boyfriend and thinking “What do I do now? Why not buy a horse!” she followed up on a “for sale” ad in the local paper.

Here Carole shares how she became "hooked on horses..."

Pandora Mildann was a weanling filly, owned by William Fritz of Churchville, NY.  “Bill” was a bachelor who lived with his mother and showed cattle, collected antiques and had a small band of quality Morgan horses.  You might remember us mentioning Bill in earlier profiles as he stood Lippitt Mandate for a season and also had Ruthven’s Mildred Ann (out of Rosilee (Mrs. Greenwalt’s Mare) and by Lippitt Moro Ash.)  Bill bred on average one or two foals a year and they were identified by having their dam’s “mildann” (from Mildred) in their name.  One of his early foals – Nancita Mildann – was bred to Major Mildann (sired by Allen’s Major) and Pandora Mildann was the result.
